It’s exactly been four years since I started ContractIQ. On the night of Dec 31, I took stock well beyond that year, to reach back to Jan 1 of 2012, when we announced ContractIQ.
Through ContractIQ, we attacked the information asymmetry between the buyer and seller of app development services. We took the side of the buyer and helped her wade through mountains of (mostly) noise and identify the right app developer.
We run it as a high-touch marketplace and have helped several 100 companies find the right vendor.
One thing we did not do well though is to answer how we’d become a category leader. Is there a billion dollar company in it, waiting to be unfurled? [bctt tweet="We had to deliberately shake things, for nobody builds a billion dollar company by accident."] I got around with Murali (then a vendor on ContractIQ, now a co-founder) to look at ContractIQ from his perspective. Turns out, ContractIQ for him is a way to get highly qualified leads where he has relevant stories to tell a warm prospect.

It dawned on both of us that, the information asymmetry problem we tried to solve all along, is as much a seller’s problem as it is a buyer’s.
Eureka!
We had stumbled upon a problem that’s bigger than the marketplace could ever solve. Ergo, we are building PipeCandy.
PipeCandy is the inverse of ContractIQ. It’s a companion service for sales teams to help them predict and pursue warm prospects.
We are super-excited (obviously) not just for what we’re pursuing but how we could simply eliminate some of the problems in today’s ways of prospecting, by applying a clever mix of smart automation and intelligence. To being with PipeCandy focuses on replacing the cold prospecting email with an equivalent of a warm handshake.
If you are a ‘good’ sales person already, PipeCandy will upgrade you to ‘awesome’.
Sign Up for an ‘early user’ account. Be that person who tells about a sexy new sales tool, to the rest of his peers (and of course, be among the few to get a candi-licious pricing for PipeCandy!)
